Typetester: Screen Font Comparison

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

Typetester is a handy tool that lets you compare fonts and see how they’ll look on screen. Its drop-down menus let you know which fonts are standard on PCs and Macs, but you can also compare other fonts from your own collection.

CSS Type Set is similar tool that generates CSS for you once you’ve made your selections.

What readers look for on authors’ websites…

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Over on Deep Genre, a group blog of fantasy authors, there’s a great discussion on what readers want on authors’ sites. Author signatures

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Miss Snark has excellent advice for authors regarding blog/forum signatures. Of course, it’s important to have such a signature in the first place — a linked title, or even just a user icon featuring a book’s cover art, is enough — but do think about where that link leads the reader. What We Do

We are avid readers and web surfers. We have seen good sites and bad sites. We've seen authors struggle with what to put on their sites, how to build them, and where to host them.

We have seen a lot of authors pay too much money for bad websites.

We want to bring affordable, well designed and manageable websites to authors.

We design (and redesign) websites, including:

  • blogs
  • forums
  • photo galleries
  • contests
  • mailing lists
  • visitor statistics
  • search engine optimization
  • email or RSS notifications of book reviews and mentions in blogs
  • promoting appearances online
